Adobe Announces Flash Player 10

If you have been paying attention to the RIA world lately, you already know that it is becoming a very competitive market. Rich Internet Applications represent the web’s next generation. You have probably already heard of the most important contenders who provide tools to create applications such as Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, AJAX and Sun JavaFX.

This week, Adobe announced the next version of their Flash technology, version 10. This is an important step for the company which currently has a 98% penetration with it’s player. One of the most impressive new features is the 3D animated effects that developers are now able to produce. The effects filters and the text engine have also been completely revamped and improved following developer’s requests.

The new player is still in beta, and no official release date has been announced yet. The final version should be available for multiple platforms, such as Windows, Mac and Linux. Most of the features should also be available in Adobe Air products as well.
